Science campus
The project site, a former military depot located along the road connecting Monserrato and Dolianova, is partially occupied by the buildings of the Astronomical Observatory of Cagliari - National Institute for Astrophysics.
The functional program includes the creation of a center of excellence for research and science and, at the same time, the creation of a pole of interest dedicated to sport and leisure.
The completion project involves the construction of two new volumes, a training center and a kindergarten and, in addition, the arrangement of the surrounding area including an information point and service facilities.
The two main volumes are thought of as architectures for education, the buildings not only sustainable but spaces of consciousness and responsibility, characterized by the pursuit of wealth by creating quality spaces fully accessible and useful.
The park is designed in total continuity so as to become the unifying element of the entire project, ensuring the recognition of the elements, functions and pathways that identify the function of the program. Former warehouses in ruins will be demolished and rebuilt in the full respect of the shape and volume to accommodate the information point and the park support structures while the lightweight structures for outdoor activities will be made of wood and steel to make a minimal impact on the context.
