Railway gatehouse restoration

The renovation project of the former Osini railway station aims to repurpose the building while preserving its original architectural and formal features. The planned works include structural consolidation and the replacement of deteriorated elements, in full respect of the building’s historical character.
The external masonry, which is in good condition, will undergo localized cleaning and repointing, with special attention to cement joints. The intermediate wooden floor and the roof—currently in a severely degraded state and lacking insulation—will be replaced. The project also includes the renewal of internal plaster, the replacement of external window frames (with new ones identical to the originals), the restoration of internal fixtures, and the recovery of historic flooring, with the replacement of any inconsistent elements.
The external façades will remain unchanged, except for the reopening of access points that were sealed off in more recent times. The interior layout will be largely preserved, with the addition of new service blocks on both levels to meet current functional and regulatory requirements.
The building will be repurposed as a logistics hub supporting tourism activities related to the new greenway developed along the disused railway line. The project will be completed with upgrades to the building’s mechanical systems and improvements in energy efficiency, in compliance with current regulations.
