Blocco R of University Hospital
The project concerns with the expansion of one of the most important hospital in Sardinia, through the implementation of new blocks that, placed on the main front, will define the final image of the complex.
The main objectives of the intervention are the rationalization of the distribution and connective system, the review of the access system, the introduction of new service features, the correct connection with the existing hospital.
The project is divided into several separate blocks aligned along a central space at full height (the main street) which also cosente connecting to existing blocks. The distribution from the main street by means of a system of galleries and footbridges allows the maximum opening and readability of the distribution to the advantage of the users' sense of orientation within the hospital.
The general philosophy behind the project is to transform the complex from a simple hospital, intended as a container of care services, to a place where the physical and mental well-being is essentially linked to the livability and hospitality expressed by its architecture. In particular, the work has focused on the elimination of risk factors, on the effective distribution of space by function, on the study of color, lighting aspects, microclimate and material of the individual environments, on the implementation of sustainability and on the research about flexible solutions that enable the adaptation of the building for future needs.
