Beauty farm, spa and hotel

In a sort of analogical continuity with the 19th-century intervention, the current project for a wellness center with an adjoining hotel refers to a morphological layout derived from the typologies of 19th-century rationalism, in which the relationship between the built structure and the landscape is articulated in terms that seem particularly suited to the nature of the site in question. In particular, the subdivision into formally and functionally defined parts, and the resulting complexity achieved through simplicity, leads to a reduction of the object's impact on the site without resorting to unacceptable mimetic processes.
The area designated for the center occupies the small valley located near the road that connects Sardara to the pre-existing thermal baths. Lower than the road, it appears as a natural basin, bordered by a semicircular hill that forms the visual backdrop for the intervention, allowing for an optimal integration of the new building. Its position in relation to the road and the site's topography suggested the compositional layout: the hotel faces the road, forming the main frontage for those arriving from the town of Sardara, while the beauty farm, arranged in a semicircle against a circular gallery, follows the contour of the hill. This results in a gradual deconstruction of the building near the natural features. The chosen position and morphology make the complex the terminating element of the equipped pedestrian path running along the canal, both formally and functionally.
