Redevelopment of San Mauro area
The project is part of a public-private partnership aimed at the development of a commercial building, and falls within a broader integrated program for the urban renewal of Monserrato’s suburban areas.
The intervention includes the reorganization of the road network, the recovery and functional conversion of a decommissioned sports facility, and the creation of new parking areas serving both the new functions and the existing urban fabric. The entire project was developed with a strong focus on environmental sustainability, through the use of low-energy technologies and permeable surfaces designed to improve rainwater management. A key aspect of the intervention is the new road configuration providing access to the area, complemented by an environmentally conscious parking lot — partially permeable and equipped with systems for rainwater collection and reuse.
At the heart of the project lies the new public sports area, located on the site of the former football field. It includes three padel courts, a five-a-side football pitch, changing rooms, a small refreshment area, and a children's play zone. In addition to fulfilling functional and urban planning needs, the redevelopment enhances the environmental and landscape quality of the area through the introduction of new green spaces thoughtfully integrated across the different parts of the project.
