Resort
The proposed project is part of a redevelopment program of public / private of a former mining site in which there are two large abandoned buildings: the laundry (that public intervention will convert into a center for social and cultural services) and ENEL power plant; the private project involves the demolition of the volume of the power plant and the construction of a resort.
The project area, adjacent to the main road, is localized above the town of Carloforte on a slope leading down to the inside.
The project provides for the construction of a building in which will be receptivity functions, placed in the lower part of the area, so as to involve as little as possible the rest of the territory, thus left available for other activities without altering the natural character.
The program is based on finding a form generated by the ground contours, with an intention that goes beyond mere camouflage operation, but rather the extent of the natural morphology of architecture. The shape of the building, in this way is not produced as purely arbitrary sign on the background of a highly structured and configured landscape, but participates in the structuring elements of this, including the elevation arranged in relation to the slope of the hill and the selection of visual cones towards the sea.
The choice of materials to be used accommodates such a program by adopting a structured repertoire of solutions that contribute to the strengthening of formal relations between architecture and site. Stone and wood, used extensively, contribute to the effective inclusion, as well as green accommodations that use the essences of the Mediterranean.
The resulting image is a highly fragmented complex where individual volumes are difficult to detect, giving great importance to the new landscape created by their juxtaposition. The caesura between individual volumes are marked by stone stairs that allow the crossing of the complex and accentuate the idea of a continuity between the territory and buildings.
