Urban Park Via Coghe

The project involves an urban regeneration intervention aimed at transforming a currently degraded area into a new equipped public park, with the goal of providing the neighborhood with both a usable green space and a dedicated parking area. The entire intervention area, measuring approximately 3,400 sqm, will be divided into a large park (3,015 sqm) and a parking zone (385 sqm) located between Via Coghe, Via Cavour, and Via Maroncelli. The parking area, designed with permeable materials, will accommodate 13 parking spaces, including one for people with disabilities, and will feature regulated access and LED lighting.
The park will be crossed by a pedestrian pathway made of draining concrete and compact basalt, designed to support informal daily use, with widened sections that serve as rest areas. Along the path, urban furniture elements will be installed, including monolithic benches in concrete and wood, waste bins for separated collection, and bike racks. The green areas will be lawned with Paspalum vaginatum and planted with native tree species such as holm oak, carob, and white mulberry, along with climbing plants and aromatic shrubs. The entire green space will be served by an automatic irrigation system tailored to the specific needs of each vegetation type.
To enhance the cultural and identity value of the intervention, a large mural will be created on the blind façades of buildings overlooking the park. The artwork, designed by Sardinian artist Tellas, will cover approximately 500 sqm and is inspired by the lacustrine landscapes surrounding the area. This artistic installation, consistent with Tellas’ previous urban-scale projects in several Italian and European cities, contributes to redefining the public space, improving the area’s visual identity and strengthening the connection between art, nature, and the urban environment.
