Former market redevelopment

The project involves the demolition of the former town market and the reconstruction of a new building whose volume will reclaim the alignments and heights, fitting in a harmonious and consistent way in the urban landscape. The key concept to which the intervention should refer is that of the "portal", able to bring together old and contemporary in a logic of continuity and contrast.
The ground floor is designed as a large space through a large stair placed in connection with the street and the public space overlooking. This floor is delimited by a fully opening windows system so that the input terraced steps contributing to the construction of public spaces adjacent to the building, becoming a place to rest and socialize. The interior is organized around a large central void triple-height that runs through the entire volume of the new building to the roof, bringing the light at all levels. Around this central space, like a new urban square covered, it will find a place selling spaces and promotion of local products.
The first floor is designed as a large multipurpose space directly connected with the ground floor through the central void and will be designed to host various activities in the field of culture, art, spaces for associations or other related activities at the University.
The last level, which includes a large roof terrace, will host restaurants related to local products. The larger space could be seen as a real restaurant, while an additional commercial "space" could be devoted for training and make known of traditional knowledge.
