Home for the elderly
The building, located in the historic center of the village, near the church and the public library, starting from these pre-existing elements, with his presence, will confirm and enhance the peculiarities of the town center. The building contains the lot with two facades aligned with the existing buildings and keeping the proportions between raised and road of the historic center.
While the exterior elevations in their proportions and in their materials (colored plaster and a local stone base) wants to adapt and integrate into the existing in a simple and discreet way, the ensemble expresses the complexity and richness of the spaces that characterize the architectonic culture of Sardinia. The interior of the building serves as a space physically closed yet open to the community. The complexity of the building and its connection with the consolidated urban fabric is expressed also in the internal routes and off-premises system.
Great consideration has been given to the quality of life of the elderly residents of the center, and for this reason the complex does not want to be thought of as a box containing the necessary services, but rather as a building facing outward, creating a direct connection between the interior spaces and the external ones, which are intended as meeting places for those who live outside the community.
