Redevelopment of the ARST bus station

The project involves the technical and architectural redevelopment of the ARST bus station building in Piazza Matteotti, Cagliari, through a systematic series of interventions related to both construction and plant works. The redevelopment of the bus station is a highly significant intervention in urban, architectural, and functional terms, given the prestigious context in which the building is located and the central role it plays in the regional transport system.
Among the most important interventions, a general reorganization of the interior spaces was carried out, with a particular focus on quality and usability. Access points and orientation within the station were improved, with clear and appropriate signage that distinctly identifies the main areas, such as the ticket office, information desk, and restrooms. In addition, a multimedia information system was implemented to facilitate the management of intermodal mobility-related information.
The exterior façade, an important architectural element made of marble, was thoroughly cleaned and restored, bringing back its original beauty. Inside, several refurbishing and modernization works were carried out, including the replacement of flooring, ceilings, and windows, as well as the installation of a new air conditioning system. Structurally, the portion of the building involved in the works was reinforced and restored.
The final result has made the station safer, more functional, and technologically advanced, capable of responding to the demands of an ever-evolving traffic system. Thanks to the reorganization of spaces and the introduction of new plant solutions, the bus station not only improves the user experience but also fits more harmoniously into the surrounding urban context.
